Hey! I'm Ashleigh, a neuroscientist who loves to write.
Thanks for visiting Neurites, I'm glad you're here!

I'm Ashleigh. I'm a final year neuroscience PhD candidate from Scotland. My research focusses on the molecular and cellular underpinnings of psychiatric disorders. My usual days are filled with experiments, which means I spend a lot of time wearing an unflattering labcoat with pipette in hand. Over the past year, I've found a love of writing. That's where this corner of the internet comes in. I started this blog with the aim of fostering a writing practice and sharing new ideas with other brains on the internet. I'd like to share my passion for neuroscience, explore new ideas and share insights from my early research career. I hope you'll join me on the journey!

I love sharing neuroscience and new research findings with others. I've given various public lectures for organisations such as TEDx and Pint of Science - you can find video versions of my talks and some other neuro-related material over on my YouTube.

I'm also freelance writing, editing and proof-reading on Fiverr.

For any academics joining me over here, you can find a more in-depth summary of my current research over here. Feel free to check out my full academic CV as well.
